State of The Union: All 58 Players have settled up their Huffman dues for the year. The updated financials are listed below. Another Sunningdale member has expressed an
interest in joining our Monday group. I will
reach out to him this week.

Almost a Train Wreck Today: There were lost balls, lost clubs, missing members and poor Rahul Manchanda
actually suffered a car wreck on the way to the course! He was fine, and I quote
“sorry I had to drop out… rear ended on the way to Sunningdale… I am fine, just
the hassle of reporting, insurance and appraisal took all morning”. Glad to hear you are okay Rahul!
In spite of the car wreck, the inclement weather, a
member withdrawing to play a scotch-two ball match, one DNF, we actually started
the day with 51 golfers teeing it up.
Best showing so far this year!
Double “V” for Victory: I am running out of cliches for this week’s mister recipient! He already had earned 12 pay points heading
into today’s game and he continued to hold the hot hand. He had 3 birdies on
the back nine garnering 17 quota points after the turn and ended with a total
of 45 quota points on the day. He
shot a great score of 83 from a Y19 handicap.
To the “victor” go the spoils! Put
your “peace signs” up for Mr. Victor Vigna! Well played Big V.
Monty Python: Playing
the Sunningdale course is not a popular choice with our group. Chris Kempling generally makes a point of
booking that course. Today, his playing
partners, who both normally play white tees, moved up to the yellow tees and it
payed dividends. Coming in with 43
quota points, good for second place, Peter (Holy) Grail, shot a very
nice 88 from a Y23 handicap. Tis quite
the “scratch” for Peter!
Fly Eagle Fly: Well, we
had our first eagle of the year today.
Ironically, I picked that picture of the eagle, (observed we on hole
number 17 with some sort of prey in it’s talons), to feature this gent’s
accomplishment! Not only did he eagle hole #16, (West Course), but he followed
that up with birdie on #17. Accumulating
20 quota points on the back nine alone, “en-schuuring” his place on the podium,
long John Schuurmans, shot an 81 today and had 42 quota points. Super
duper John!
Monday Stats that may interest only me;
Lowest round of the day: Yea, eagle/birdie on back-to-back holes is tough to beat. John Schuurmans score of 81 was sweet!
Top Bird Dog: Double V or
rather triple B, three birdies for Victor Vigna today on a day when there were only
8 birdies. Tom Wey, (#4 West), Larry
Nielsen, (#14 West) and Sohan Samra, (#5 West) made birdies as well today but
failed to turn them into pay points. All
other birdies are listed below.
Best Played Hole by one 4-Some: Easy pickings today as John Schuurmans’ eagle on #16, with pars from
his playing partners Tom Wey, Steve Goodwin and Gord Good had -2 on that hole!
Best result by a four-some this year. That
group combined for 3 birdies and an eagle today, wowzah!
All pay points earners are
listed here. A total of 13 golfers
exceeded the 36-point threshold for a total of 45 pay points!
