Just singin’ and dancing in the rain: With the threat of thunderstorms and how that impacts other lingering injuries
in our aging bodies, we had four guys cancel just before the opening bell
today. There were more moves on the tee
sheet this week than a Fred Astaire dance card!
The majority of the field today loved the hot, humid weather. As you will see, pay points were flying off scorecards
like an Oprah Winfrey TV give-away. Forty-three
golfers teed it up today.
In case you were wondering, Rahul made it safely to
the golf course this morning.
No Holds Barred: The top
of the podium was wide open today as our two leading pay point earners were
unable to play. Kinda, just kinda, similar
to Scottie Scheffler opting out of the RBC Canadian Open. So, with a wide-open field, this gentleman’s
golf game rose in accordance with the “barr-o-metric” pressure. Taking full advantage of moving to yellow
tees, Mr. Dennis Barr, lead the way with 2 birdies, 48 total quota
points and a season high 12 pay points! Dennis birdied the 3rd
and 11th hole en-route to a great round of 84. You were a real Menace
out there today, Dennis!
La Deuxieme Etoile: I mean, if it wasn’t for Google, I wouldn’t know any French. This huge Hab’s fan stick handled his way
around the course to the tune of 46 quota points. Ma Oui, (but of course), it was Denis Gagnon,
who failed to make a quota on only three holes today and drained a birdie on
hole #14. Denis told me he would
personally like to nominate his Booker, Chris, for “Booker of the Year”
consideration. Je vais voir ce que je
peux faire a ce sujet et bravo Denis!
Bronze Medal: Rounding
out the Winner’s Circle with 44 quota points, and I would like to add
that he is always “well turned out” on the course, was the suitably attired Sam
Swaminath. I played earlier this season with Sam and he was dynamite off
the tee. Today he must have put his driving game together with his short game.
He draining a birdie on hole #7 and posted a fine score of 84. To the guy who owns more golf sleeves than I
own Tilley’s, smartly played Sam!
Monday Stats that may interest only me;
Lowest round of the day: Hey, hey, dualling rounds of 80.
They go to Gordon Good and Julian Oates. Get these splits, Gord (36/44);
Julian (42/38)!
Top Bird Dog: It was our
mister designate this week, Dennis Barr with two! On a day when there were 18
birdies, Lyn Sartori was the only player who made a birdie but did not
convert it to cash. Lyn’s birdie came on
hole #12. Hole #11 was birdied 6 times
today. All other birdies are listed
below.
Best Played Hole by one 4-Some: With 8 four-somes on the course it was the
Irwin group who played #11 to -2.
Birdies for Dave Webster and Dennis Barr, with pars helpers from John
Irwin and David Ballingall.
All pay points earners are
listed here. A total of 27 golfers
exceeded the 36-point threshold for a total of 106 Pay Points! Crazy baby.
