State of the Union: Really, don’t you just love September golf? Great weather. We had forty golfers out there today.
Everyone was on the West course. There were 7 foursomes and 4 threesomes. One no-show.
Smoother Than a Fresh Jar of Skippy: This gentleman was on his game today.
He made a quota on every hole and oddly enough, he did not have a
birdie. Firing a super smooth round of
76, crack the lid off your peanut butter to see if it is as smooth as Mr. Ed
(Wowzah) Wszol was today! Ed ended the day
with 44 quota points from his W14 handicap. His handicap has bounced between 12 and 14
all season. He certainly made good use
of the higher handicap, bringing home the gold.
Exceptionally smooth Edward!
The Yellow Hornets: There was a tie on the silver podium this week from a couple of guys who
teed it up from the yellow tee blocks.
Coming home with 43 quota points apiece, were John Levasseur and
Bruce Anderson. John was first in
to the score’s table shooting a great round of 80! John had a nice split of 41/38 and there were
no birdies on his card today. He closed out the round with 5 consecutive pars. Une
super facon de terminer la jounee
John.
Bruce Anderson is trying to make a bid for his
second consecutive Green jacket. His 7 pay points today places him in the top
two or three on the pay point leaderboard. Bruce had a birdie on hole #14 en-route to a very “stingy” score of 82. Congrats Bruce.
Bronze Stars: On a day
when you had to have 42 quota points or more, just to reach the Winner’s
Circle, this duo of Eric Allen and Ernie Miatello
held off the rest of the field to do just that.
Eric’s day was a little up and down but it was
really up on the 11 hole. From the yellow tees, Eric drove the green and
drained the putt for an Eagle! I am
pretty certain that was our third Eagle of the season. Eric finished the day with a nice score of
85. Fly Eagle Fly. Well done Eric.
Ernie started the day with three triple bogies.
Then he went on a string of 14 holes where he accumulated at least one quota
point. The highlight in that streak was
a birdie, also on the 11 hole, as Ernie finished the day with a nice score of
82. Super duper Ernesto!
Monday Stats that may interest only me;
Lowest round of the day: No surprise here as Ed Wszol’s smooth
round of 76 led the way. His split was equally
as smooth 38/38, (15 quota out, 15 quota in).
Top Bird Dog: 10 birdies
today, (and 1 eagle). Two lads had 2
birdies apiece. John Schuurmans, (holes
6 and 7) and Gordon Good, (holes 1 and 4) pulled off the feat. Four
gents made a birdie but did not “cash’ them. They were Bill Gray, (#5); Vic
Harris, (#18); David Ballingall, (#14) and Brian McCall, (#14).
Best Played Hole by one 4-Some: As noted, 7 foursomes today. As best as I could tell, the best hole by
a foursome was played to +1 and that was by several groups. SO
to break tradition, the three-some of Eric Allen, John Bulmer and Bill Gray
played the 11th hole to -2. The eagle by Eric and pars for John and Bill. Nice!
All pay points earners are
listed here. A total of 16 golfers
exceeded the 36-point threshold for a total of 64 Pay Points.
