State of the Union: Hey Boys it was a pretty darn good year! We had a great turn-out to end
the season with 44 golfers settling into the tee blocks. Everyone played the West
course. There were 4 threesomes and 8 foursomes. One group was shut out from the lottery however
everyone made it into a group.
I believe that this was the first time in my seven
years of running the league that the stats were not posted on game day – my bad!
Hey Mister: Holy doodles,
it was a “tall drink of water” that stood at the head of the platform yesterday. Earning 46 quota points and firing a
great round of 78, Mr. Dave Webster was pretty Super! Always smiling out on the course and sharing a
friendly word, Dave drained a birdie on hole #14, that garnered him 15 quota on the back, which nicely “complemented” the 14 quota
he picked up on the front, (you get that, right?) Dave’s split on his score was 39/39, even more
complementary. Super Dave is sitting pretty tall in the saddle today. Well done
big man!
Are You The Piano Man?: With one of the most relaxed swings in Huffman golf, with the silver mop
on the top and a smokey voice, doesn’t Mike Belanger
have the whole feel of Billy Joel’s Piano Man? Mike sure sung a smooth tune yesterday,
finishing second with 44 quota points, while firing a nice score of 84. Image, Mike and Dave were in the same group
yesterday too! Hey Mikey, we like it!
Grab a Little R & R: Honestly, what a battle it was for the Winner’s Circle. These two gentlemen ended their rounds with 42
quota points apiece. (Right on their tails
were four other players who ended the day with 41!) First into the scorer’s table was Roy
Perovich. Roy shot a very
respectable, birdie-less round of 85, with 9 pars, four of which were consecutive
on the front nine. How about for the
rest of the week we just add a little “r’ and call him Rory?
Shooting a super fine round of 80, Rahul
Manchanda secured his place on the podium with a birdie on hole #14. He added nine pars to that birdie as
well. Rahul was one of the gents filing
in for our regular Bookers this week and I must say, for a doctor, the handwriting
on his scorecard was as smooth as his round! Way to Rule, Rahul!
Monday Stats that may interest only me;
Lowest round of the day: There were 3 scores of 78 yesterday! I already mentioned Super
Dave’s and so joining him in this feat were Gordon Good and Julian
Oates. Gordon and Julian are the two lowest handicappers to finish the season
with a W10 and W9 handicap respectively.
Both gents had a 40/38 split. Good Oates Boys!
Top Bird Dog: 15 birdies yesterday. Julian Oates and Tom Wey both
had two birdies. Julian made his on hole #2 and 14, while Tom drained his on
hole #10 and 13.
The only birdie that was not cashed was made by Ed
Wszol on hole #14. By the way, the fourteen hole
was birdied 5 times yesterday.
Best Played Hole by one 4-Some: Hey, The Funky Bunch still lives. The group of Mark Thompson, Gordon
Good, Tom Wey and Don Letton played hole #10 to -1. Birdies
for Gordon and Tom, par for Mark and a bogie for Don.
All pay points earners are
listed here. A total of 21 golfers
exceeded the 36-point threshold for a total of 82 Pay Points. It was
quite the finish to the Season!
